Amsterdam Sinfonietta & Daniel Lozakovich
Mozart, Šerkšnytė, Raskatov, Tsjaikovski
Strings ensemble Amsterdam Sinfonietta meets violist Daniel Lozakovich in a program full of expression. A concert in which soloist and ensemble challenge each other.
In Sinfonia concertante, Mozart brings emotion and experiment into perfect balance, with a rare leading role for the viola at the time, in an intimate musical dialogue with the solo violin and the orchestra.
Tchaikovsky begins the Serenade for Strings in the style of Mozart, from a deep admiration for the classical master. Though rooted in classical form, it unfolds into his unmistakable romantic language: lyrical, colorful and full of passion.
Raskatov plays freely with Mozart melodies in his contemporary homage, combining them with unexpected harmonies and percussion effects. The thought, both tragic and comforting, that everything passes invites us to seek the eternal. Šerkšnytė captures this sense of time strikingly in …this too shall pass...
