NWD Philharmonie Herford & Lisa Jacobs

Dutch violist Lisa Jacobs is one of the leading musicians of her generation and is renowned for her passionate, virtuosic playing, surprising programs and stage presence combined with her deeply felt musicality. 

Jacobs has performed as a soloist with, among others, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Bremer Philharmoniker, Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal and has worked with respected conductors such as Neeme Järvi, Riccardo Chailly, Otto Tausk, Dirk Brossé, Jurjen Hempel and Carlos Miguel Prieto.
Lisa currently plays a Rugieri from 1683, which has been made available to her privately, and makes many internationally acclaimed recordings with works by Ysaye & Franck.

In July 2025, Et'Cetera Records released a CD of Lisa Jacobs with the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé. The Sophia Violin Concerto was written by Dirk Brossé on commission from the Sophia Children's Hospital in Rotterdam. Lisa has a special connection with this concerto: "The highly virtuosic Sophia Violin Concerto is a moving musical portrait of a vulnerable and intensely human life. A story from diagnosis to farewell, a journey full of tension, hope, despair, sorrow and tender intimacy. As a musician, this piece moves me deeply, but as a person, even more. It is music that touches the essence of what it means to be human."
