Joël Domingos & Metropole Orkest
Music Unites x MO
The Metropole Orkest is back with a new family concert, this time featuring Dutch-Cape Verdean singer, rapper and producer Joël Domingos. In a unique evening full of color, rhythm and innovation, two musical worlds merge: the rich repertoire built up over 80 years by the Metropole Orkest and the distinctive, danceable sound that Joël has rapidly established on the Dutch music scene.
Joël Domingos (1995) grew up in a warm, multicultural family where Cape Verdean dance parties, African legends like Cesaria Evora and the analysis of song lyrics by Billy Joel and Simon & Garfunkel were part of daily life. He now translates that mix into a style entirely his own: danceable Dutch pop meets alternative hip-hop, infused with soulful vocals, pop hooks, hip-hop flows and authentic Cape Verdean rhythms.
With his debut album Dromers Slapen Niet (2024), Joël achieved his breakthrough. The tracks Beetje Vrijheid and Stick To Your Ways landed in the Viral Top 50, his live shows drew packed venues and at festivals like Zwarte Cross and the Nijmeegse Zomerfeesten he performed to overflowing tents. Both the press and established artists now see him as one of the greatest Dutch pop talents of the moment.
Specially for this evening, a number of Joël's songs will be newly arranged for the orchestra. Additionally, the Metropole Orkest delves into its own rich treasure chest full of colors, atmospheres and surprises. Expect an evening full of experimentation, energy and musicality at the highest level.
