Residentie Orkest
Beethoven, Ravel & Moesorgski | o.a. Schilderijententoonstelling
The Residentie Orkest Den Haag brings two iconic masterworks: Beethoven's lyrical Violin Concerto and Ravel's colorful orchestration of Mussorgsky's renowned Pictures at an Exhibition.
Beethoven's Violin Concerto is one of the most beloved works in the violin repertoire. Not a virtuosic spectacle for its own sake, but a musical landscape full of lyricism, elegance and subtle tension. In the hands of violinist Tobias Feldmann, a dialogue unfolds between soloist and orchestra that sounds both intimate and grand.
Afterwards, the concert hall transforms into a musical gallery. Mussorgsky originally composed Pictures at an Exhibition for piano, but Maurice Ravel later gave the work its famous orchestral colours. In this rich arrangement, you walk past a series of sound paintings: whimsical figures, tranquil moments and monumental scenes. Under the baton of chief conductor Jun Märkl, the orchestra demonstrates how music can evoke images that are just as vivid as painting. An evening where imagination and symphonic splendour come together.
