Noa Wildschut & Berlage Saxophone Quartet
De Mens in de Massa
The Individual in the Crowd is a captivating program in which the Berlage Saxophone Quartet and violinist Noa Wildschut together give voice to both the struggle and harmony of being human. Two primal desires take center stage: the drive for personal fulfillment and the longing to merge with the collective.

The tension becomes audible in diverse musical forms, with arrangements by Max Knigge and Peter Vigh. Sometimes the soloist and quartet merge into a powerful symbol of connection, then again they stand in direct opposition to each other, as in Arvo Pärt's Fratres.
Intimate solo pieces by Max Knigge for violin and saxophone reveal the individual breaking free from the masses, while works such as Béla Bartók's Duos seek out dialogue instead: moments of harmony, collision and reconciliation.
