The DOMNIQ Group presents Águas da Amazônia by Philip Glass in a new interpretation, surrounded by new compositions and sound worlds. This 45-minute masterpiece, originally written in 1999 for the Brazilian ensemble Uakti, has now been revised in a brand new transcription created in collaboration with the composer himself.

Under the direction of Dutch Music Prize winner DOMNIQ (Dominique Vleeshouwers), the ensemble, consisting of three percussionists, a flutist and a string player, expands the work into an evening-length experience. Around Águas da Amazônia, they build a musical universe inspired by water, where innovative percussion, handmade instruments such as the slapaphone, electronics, light design and traditional instruments from different cultures come together.

Águas da Amazônia invites us to re-examine our relationship with water: what lingers, what resonates when the source dries up and the current stills.
