Tapasconcert: Izhar Elias & PuraCorda Ensemble
Giuliani & Beethoven
In 1813, Beethoven's captivating Seventh Symphony was performed for the first time. None other than the Italian guitar virtuoso Mauro Giuliani was playing as a cellist in Beethoven's orchestra that evening. Giuliani was enjoying great success at that moment with his Second Guitar Concerto. He was a "pop star" avant la lettre.
Izhar Elias and the PuraCorda Ensemble featuring Femke Huizinga (viola) bring both masterpieces to life on historical instruments, such as a famous Guadagnini guitar from 1812. For this concert, experience the Vienna of Beethoven and Giuliani!
The PuraCorda Ensemble is the winner of the Van Wassenaer Competition. PuraCorda has just completed a prestigious European tour at the most famous early music festivals. Femke Huizinga is among the violists of the Dutch Bach Society.
Dutch Music Prize winner Izhar Elias is an internationally respected specialist in the field of early music performance practice for guitar, with his remarkable collection of guitars.
