The 11th Spaarnestad Concert on 5 July as a Sunday afternoon matinee
For the 11th time, the Spaarnestad Concert will get audiences and boats moving. This year as a Sunday afternoon matinee on July 5 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. On that day, cheerful sounds will echo across the Bakenessergracht again. What remains unchanged is that the Spaarnestad Concert is carried by the Kennemer Youth Orchestra. This time with musical contributions from SpoorFour, Opera Guests and as a finale Heel Haarlem Zingt Nijgh with the lead singer of the Haarlem band "Nepstars" Nancy Zandbergen. The entire event is presented by René Kint. Visitors on the quay can attend the concert free of charge. But the real experience is of course from a sloop on the water. Tickets are available for sloop owners to watch and listen to the concert from their own boat. Prices vary, depending on the size of the boat, from €55 for sloops up to 7 meters to €75 for sloops longer than 7 meters
Kennemer Youth Orchestra
The Kennemer Youth Orchestra (KJO) has been under the direction of conductor Christiaan Kuyvenhoven since September 2024.
The KJO is a symphony orchestra for young people aged 13 to 18 and has an average of 30-50 members. Under the inspiring leadership of the conductor, orchestra members work on their ensemble playing, technique, interpretation and personal style. Rehearsals take place every Friday evening in the Remonstrant Church in Haarlem. The orchestra performs in churches and on major stages such as the Spaarnestad Concert, PHIL Haarlem and the commemorative concert the evening before Bevrijdingspop Haarlem.
Ticket Sales
Only a limited number of boats are permitted in the canal; only skippers who have purchased an entrance ticket via the website theater-haarlem.nl will be allowed through.
