Goldmund Quartet
Beethoven, Schubert
With Beethoven and Schubert on the programme, the Goldmund Quartet demonstrates why they belong to the top of their generation.
The Goldmund Quartet is known for its layered sound in their interpretations of major classical and modern works from the string quartet repertoire. Their restraint, refined intonation, and phrasings worked out to the smallest detail inspire audiences around the world.
Their most recently released album, Dahoam, is a musical exploration of their Bavarian background, realized through an innovative combination of folk music and classical music. The quartet is known for its great musical versatility; their albums contain both traditional classical and contemporary repertoire, from Schubert and Mendelssohn to Wolfgang Rihm and Dobrinka Tabakova.
In 2016, the quartet won the Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis and the Karl Klinger Prize from the ARD Competition. As winners of the International Wigmore Hall String Competition (2018) and the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition (2018), the Goldmund Quartet was named Rising Stars by the European Concert Hall Organisation for the 2019/20 season.
