Women Singing for Peace brings together women from Haarlem for a special afternoon filled with singing, meeting and connection. Previous editions at other locations in Haarlem and the surrounding area were successful and attracted a very diverse group.
Initiators Yvonne Moonen and Charo Durán invite women from different groups in Haarlem society to sing together and meet each other. Under the guidance of voice liberator and singer Charo Durán, we will sing short, heartwarming songs this afternoon, experiencing our mutual connection through singing.
Whether you love to sing or think you can't sing: all women are welcome! We invite women, women-identifying persons, and non-binary persons from all neighborhoods, ages, cultures, religions, and backgrounds to join us. Simple, transcultural songs make it easy for everyone to sing along. By meeting each other, we discover how much we have in common and that connecting with others is easier than you might think.
The initiative is prompted by increasing hardening in society. Music and singing together strengthen our mutual connection and thus we increase peace at a micro level with each other in our beautiful Haarlem. Meet other women you might not normally encounter and have a chat over snacks and drinks after singing.
Be welcome as you are. Bring your mother, friend, or neighbor, who in turn brings someone else. Or bring someone you don't know well yet.
Singing together and meeting together. And let us make a sound of peace!
