Trijntje Oosterhuis celebrating Stevie Wonder
50 years of Songs in the Key of Life
In 2025, Trijntje returns with a new tour filled with Stevie Wonder songs to celebrate both his 75th birthday and the 50th anniversary of Songs in the Key of Life.
The groundbreaking double album Songs in the Key of Life by Stevie Wonder was released 50 years ago and is still regarded worldwide as one of the greatest albums ever made. This iconic album seems to gain even more significance with the years and showcases Stevie Wonder at his very best. In 2025, he will also celebrate his 75th birthday, which should be celebrated as well.
For Trijntje Oosterhuis, Stevie Wonder has been the source of inspiration for wanting to become a singer. Trijntje first saw Stevie Wonder live at a festival in Rotterdam. The then just 19-year-old from Amsterdam stood right at the front of the stage with her friends.
After the impressive performance, she meets one of Stevie Wonder's backing vocalists. He asks Trijntje if she would like to meet Stevie Wonder. Before she knew it, she was shaking hands with her musical idol. To her even greater surprise, Stevie invited her to sing with him in his dressing room; this experience turned out to be a major turning point in Trijntje's musical heart.
After the successful formation Total Touch disbanded in 1999, Trijntje drew inspiration from Songs in the Key of Life for her first Stevie Wonder tour. This tour, which took place 25 years ago, resulted in one of her best-selling albums.
