Tineke Postma Group
Leading Dutch jazz musicians | Album release VOYA
With her ninth album VOYA, saxophonist and composer Tineke Postma continues her musical journey. She demonstrates that she never stops growing and continually explores new sounds and uncharted paths. During this release tour, she performs with the Tineke Postma Group: David Dorůžka, Robert Landfermann and Tristan Renfrow.
After years of touring together worldwide, the group has developed a sound that is deeply personal, constantly evolving, and rooted in trust and attentive listening.
The title VOYA resonates on multiple levels: it evokes "voyage," a journey outward and inward; it honors "the voice," emphasizing Bleckmann's voice as an instrument; and it references Oya, the Yoruba goddess of wind, transformation, breath, and storm.
Thus VOYA becomes a journey through wind, voice, and the soul, a space beyond sound, a vessel for listening and reflection. This group thrives by embracing the unknown and being present in the moment, with the spirit of Tineke's mentor Wayne Shorter gently present, honored in her interpretation of his radiant composition "A Place Called Somewhere."
