From The Heart is the title of the program by jazz vocalist Ronald Douglas and jazz pianist Rob van Bavel. The repertoire is intimate and deeply felt; a highly personal selection of songs in which the content and meaning of the lyrics are central. For this concert, they have specially invited double bass player Kasper Kalf and drummer Marc Schenk to join them at the PHIL.

From The Heart is the title of the duo project of jazz singer Ronald Douglas and jazz pianist Rob van Bavel. Both are well-known names in the national and international jazz world. They have known each other since 1992, when they began working together in various jazz clubs in the Netherlands and beyond.

This led to Ronald's first CD with a wonderful trio, with Rob on piano of course. This CD marked the beginning of broader recognition. Together they have since worked on four CDs, each featuring duo pieces as well.

The title says it all. Much of what we have all experienced or continue to experience forms the basis for the songs that Ronald and Rob have chosen.
