The Big Sing Jongeren
Jongeren creëren, vertellen en… zingen!
Since 2023, The Big Sing has given a platform to young people. Haarlem teenagers become creators themselves. Instead of performing existing music, young people create their own productions based on themes that come directly from their own lived experience.
Under the guidance of professional artists and dedicated teachers, they work on music, text, film and performance, with collective singing playing a central role. Previous projects included The Protest & The Prophecy in 2023, Utopia in 2024 and preceding last year's festival in 2025 Babel.
Lost & Found? | Shared search for meaning
This year work is underway on the production Lost & Found? with a universal theme: arriving in the unknown. What happens when everything is new… the language, the people, the customs? How do you find your place, and what does it mean to live together with others who are also finding their way? This production is not about one specific group, but about an experience everyone knows: starting over.
In collaboration with partners such as HIT Haarlem and PHIL, young people go through a creative journey from classroom or studio to stage, culminating in the production Lost & Found? on Thursday 25 June in the Small Hall of PHIL.
