Haarlem is known worldwide as the city of organs. The city has two top organs with a monumental status: the Christian Müller organ in the Great or St. Bavo Church and the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the PHIL.

Wibren Jonkers is a concert organist, church musician and music teacher. He is studying for his Master of Music at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Pieter van Dijk and Matthias Havinga. To develop himself as a versatile keyboard player, he also studied basso continuo with Miklós Spányi, harpsichord and clavichord with Menno van Delft and piano with Jaap Kooi. At the Conservatory of Rotterdam (Codarts), Wibren studied church music and improvisation with Hayo Boerema. He has attended masterclasses with Michel Bouvard, Ben van Oosten, Louis Robilliard and Thomas Trotter. Besides his musical activities, he is studying for a Master’s degree in Theology at the Theological University of Apeldoorn.

As a church musician, Wibren has been appointed organist of the Fonteinchurch in Amersfoort, cantor of the Protestantse Gemeente Zeewolde, and vesper organist of the Old Church in Amsterdam. He is active as a private organ and piano teacher, performs as a continuo player and regularly accompanies choirs and soloists. Wibren was prize winner at several competitions, including first prizes at the Duyschot Organ Competition Amsterdam (2022) and the International Martini Organ Competition Groningen (2024).

From May to October, concerts are held on Tuesday evenings and in July and August also on Thursday afternoons in the Grote or St. Bavo Church by renowned organists from home and abroad.
