Liza Ferschtman is a musical storyteller who is fully committed to the emotional language of every composer she performs.
For Liza, the romantic standard repertoire is just as important as playing and collaborating with leading composers of our time. Her deep affinity with Schubert and Beethoven goes hand in hand with a passion for the expressionist world of composers from the early twentieth century.
Liza has devoted herself particularly to the bold genre of the solo violin recital. She is known for her interpretations of Bach's works for solo violin and often performs them in a single marathon concert. She is also one of the few violinists who dares to perform all of Biber's Rosary Sonatas in a single performance, for which she uses at least seven different violins.
Liza's creativity as artistic director, curator and collaboration partner is expressed in a broad range of international projects. At the age of 27, she was appointed artistic director of the Delft Chamber Music Festival. During her fourteen-year directorship, the festival grew into an annual multidisciplinary event with a unique place in the Dutch cultural landscape.
In 2006, Liza received the Dutch Music Prize, the highest state award for young musicians. In 2021, she was appointed Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau, a royal recognition for her contribution to Dutch cultural life.
