Fee Suzanne de Ruiter is one of four top talents participating in Dutch Classical Talent 2026/2027. With her warm voice and her use of the theme of melancholy, she knows how to move you.

In the past, physicians and thinkers regarded this feeling as one of the four temperaments through which they sought to understand the human emotional state. Unlike the other temperaments, melancholy could never be captured in a physical cause. It remains elusive, and yet everyone has felt it at some point.

In this concert we navigate between the different temperaments—sanguine, phlegmatic, and choleric—until everything converges in melancholy. It prompts the creation of something beautiful, born from the awareness of transience and unfulfilled longing.

Melancholy is a muse; the embodiment of the desire for desires.
