Haarlem is known worldwide as the organ city. The city is home to two outstanding organs with monumental status: the Christian Müller organ in the St. Bavo Church and the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the PHIL.

From May through October, concerts are held on Tuesday evenings in the Grote or St.-Bavokerk. In July and August, concerts also take place on Thursday afternoons, performed by renowned organists from the Netherlands and abroad.

Vincent de Ridder (1997)

Vincent de Ridder (1997) began taking organ lessons at age nine at the Zeeland Music School in Middelburg, where he studied with Jos Vogel. In 2017 he started his organ studies at Codarts in Rotterdam. In 2023 he completed his master's degree. He combined this study with a bachelor's degree in Public Administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam and a master's degree in Management of the Public Sector at Leiden University. At the Rotterdam Conservatory, Aart Bergwerff was his first teacher. He subsequently studied with Bas de Vroome and Ben van Oosten. In addition to his main subject lessons, he received improvisation lessons from Hayo Boerema and Sietze de Vries. He also took figured bass lessons and a minor in harpsichord with Bas de Vroome and received piano lessons from Martin Lekkerkerk.

In 2019, Vincent participated in the jubilee edition of the SGO organ competition at the Der Aak Church and the Martini Church in Groningen, where he won first prize. He has also attended various masterclasses, including those with Wolfgang Zerer (Bach), Olivier Latry (Franck), and Willem Tanke (Messiaen). As a church musician, he is affiliated with the Hillegonda Church in Rotterdam-Hillegersberg. He also has a private teaching practice in Arnemuiden. In addition to his musical activities, he works for the Province of Zeeland in the field of physical living environment.
