Ko Zwanenburg (1963) studied organ at the Dutch Institute for Church Music in Utrecht with Elly Kooiman and Kees de Wijs, and piano with Theo Saris. At the Utrecht Conservatory he earned his diploma in organ performance. His teacher was Jan Welmers. He took a course in improvisation with Bert Matter. His studies were recognized with an honorable mention for the performance of twentieth-century music. He maintains a thriving private practice teaching organ and piano in Utrecht and regularly gives organ concerts in and around Utrecht. Ko is cantor-organist at the Nicolai Church in Utrecht. He is conductor of the Vespercantorij Nicolaïkerk, which participates in the vespers on the first Sunday of each month. He also directs the Cappella di San Nicolaï and the Project Children's Choir of the Protestant Community Utrecht. In June, this choir performed the musical 'Moses', for which he composed the music to texts by Karel Deurloo. As a performer, he can be heard on the CDs 'Jan Welmers Organ Works' and '50 Years of the Marcussen Organ at Nicolai Church Utrecht'. As an advisor, he is involved with the Foundation for Cultural Events at Nicolai Church Utrecht (www.nicolaiconcerten.nl) and he is a board member of the Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck Prize Foundation (www.sweelinckprijs.nl).
