Stadsorgelconcert in de Grote of St. Bavokerk
Haarlem is known worldwide as the organ city. The city is home to two top-class organs with monument status: the Christian Müller organ in the St. Bavo Church and the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the PHIL.
From May through October, concerts are held on Tuesday evenings in the Grote or St.-Bavokerk. In July and August, concerts also take place on Thursday afternoons, performed by renowned organists from the Netherlands and abroad.

Geurt van Lagen (2001) studied organ at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In 2025 he completed his bachelor's degree with Jos van der Kooy with an examination concert at the Great or St. Bavo Church in Haarlem. He also took piano lessons with Wim Voogd. At Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, he studied church music with Hayo Boerema (improvisation), Arie Hoek (hymnology and cantorship) and Hanna Rijken (liturgics). He took further lessons and masterclasses with, among others, Pieter Dirksen, Olivier Latry and Daan Manneke. In 2024 he won second prize at the Duyschot Organ Competition at the Westerkerk in Amsterdam. He works as cantor-organist at the Old Church in Zoetermeer, where he is among other things the regular performer of the Lohman organ from 1838.
