Haarlem is known worldwide as an organ city. The city is home to two top-class organs with monumental status: the Christian Müller organ in St. Bavokerk and the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the PHIL.

From May through October, concerts are held on Tuesday evenings in the Grote or St. Bavokerk. In July and August, concerts also take place on Thursday afternoons, performed by renowned organists from the Netherlands and abroad.
