Seven guitar virtuosos, one unforgettable festival program. A new, unique and utterly swinging jubilee program featuring the absolute top of guitar playing in the Netherlands.

Friday Night in San Francisco was a breathtaking live recording in the 1980s of a concert in San Francisco featuring initiator and English guitar virtuoso John McLaughlin, fusion guitarist Al Di Meola and flamenco maestro Paco de Lucia. What stood out especially was the combination of three totally different acoustic guitar sounds and styles.

Following this, the unique combination of five Dutch top guitarists emerged in the late 1990s: Five Great Guitars. The original line-up was: Jan Kuiper, Digmon Roovers, Eric Vaarzon Morel, Zoumana Diarra and Harry Sacksioni. Since then, founder and artistic director Jan Kuiper and bass guitarist Digmon Roovers have been touring throughout the Netherlands with their superb guitar group Five Great Guitars. An exciting journey through the world of the modern guitar with improvisation as the connecting element. A unique mix of Gypsy, Africa, Brazil, Roots, Latin, Pop, Funk and Jazz, with swinging grooves and rhythms from all corners of the world.
