Composers from the Amsterdam Conservatory and singers from The National Opera Studio bring Schubert's lieder and new compositions for voice and ensemble to life.

With The Song Project, the Dutch Chamber Orchestra has been giving a platform every season since 2023 to young composers and singers with existing and brand new music. In 2026, composers from the Amsterdam Conservatorium have been paired with singers from The National Opera Studio.

This year's theme is the music of composer Franz Schubert. The singers perform Schubert's lieder, accompanied by musicians from the Dutch Chamber Orchestra and arranged by the composition students. They also sing new works, written by the composers for voice and ensemble using the same text.

In this contemporary Schubertiade, musicians from the Dutch Chamber Orchestra combine the lieder with excerpts from Schubert's Octet in F. The result is a varied programme with Schubert's beloved music as a radiant point of departure.
