An Evening with Kristin Hersh
Underground indie-rock phenomenon | Throwing Muses and 'Your Ghost' with Michael Stipe
One of the most fascinating figures in indie rock.
The American Throwing Muses singer achieved worldwide breakthrough with Your Ghost, her haunting duet with Michael Stipe of R.E.M.. With her recent solo album Clear Pond Road (2023), she charts a new artistic direction. The result feels like a road trip through personal vignettes of an independent artist, full of raw and dreamy strings and mellotron sounds.
Over the past three decades, Kristin Hersh has earned the title 'queen of the alternative release'. With more than 20 albums to her name, both as a solo artist and with Throwing Muses and 50FOOTWAVE, Kristin Hersh is a tireless creative force. She wrote the acclaimed memoir Rat Girl (Paradoxical Undressing), based on her eventful teenage years. Rolling Stone named this work one of the 25 greatest rock memoirs of all time.
Her albums Crooked, Wyatt at the Coyote Palace and the Throwing Muses album Purgatory/Paradise were released as innovative books full of essays, art and texts. About her book Don't Suck, Don't Die, a tribute to her friendship with the late Vic Chesnutt, NPR Books wrote: "Not only one of the best books of the year, but one of the most beautiful rock memoirs ever written.
This tour marks a turning point in Kristin Hersh's career, a personal and raw statement from an independent icon.
