Royal visit language congress
June 17, 2023
Wow, these 1,000 language enthusiasts and Dutch language experts have learned so much during the biennial Onze Taal congress at the PHIL. The program focused on the language we hear AND the language that remains unspoken. Think of workshops like 'Inclusive language: can you really say nothing anymore?' or 'The right words: tips for delivering bad news effectively.' and 'Cat language: how humans and cats communicate.' But also a challenging dictation from the Language Advisory Service. Our technicians in the rooms have greatly been able to enhance their knowledge.
H.R.H. Princess Laurentien
Since 2001, the princess has been committed to promoting literacy. As the patroness of the Society Our Language, Princess Laurentien opened the congress. During the plenary session, she spoke with the chairperson Wim Daniels, visited the information fair, and the exhibition of the Language Museum, and contributed to the live broadcast of 'The Language State'.
Live radio from the Artiesten Foyer
The NPO 1 radio program De Taalstaat was specially broadcast live for this occasion from the PHIL. The Artiesten Foyer on the first floor is very suitable for this: it borders on the Grote Foyer, it is quiet, but through the large glass wall, the broadcast is still part of the event - both for the presenter in the back house and for the guests in the front house.
