The open foyers, the original furniture, the lighting; everything was perfect. The international visitors consistently mentioned how perfect the location was and how important it was for the excellent atmosphere at the busy congress.
Psychedelics conference
June 10, 2024
For the second time, the PHIL was the venue for the prestigious international ICPR congress (Interdisciplinary Conference on Psychedelic Research). Our client, OPEN Foundation, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting knowledge and understanding of psychedelics through research. Not only was the PHIL, but the city of Haarlem was rated so highly by academics, therapists, scientific researchers, clinical staff, and policymakers in 2022 that this was a reason to return in 2024.
A city with everything within reach
Haarlem is increasingly establishing itself as a convention city both nationally and internationally. And that is not very surprising. After all, it is a city where everything is within reach: from the historic center to the many good hotels. “In Haarlem, the city of gastronomy and hospitality, culture is up for grabs,” states Pien Keizer on behalf of the Haarlem Convention Bureau. And in terms of accommodations, Haarlem can also compete successfully with other cities.
Enthusiastic client
In addition to sufficient space for the content program, the organization wanted to bring its international guests to an inspiring, typically Dutch location as an alternative to Amsterdam, with plenty of hotels within walking distance and a lively atmosphere around the venue for socializing. 'The open foyers, the original furniture, the lighting: everything was perfect. The international visitors always mentioned how perfect the location was and how important it was for the excellent atmosphere at our busy conference. Not an interchangeable hotel or conference center, but a unique building with beautiful rooms in the middle of the stunning historical center of Haarlem, next to the impressive Bavokerk.'
