Stadsorgelconcert in de Grote of St. Bavokerk
Bart Jacobs
Haarlem is known worldwide as the city of organs. The city has two top organs with a monumental status: the Christian Müller organ in the Great or St. Bavo Church and the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the PHIL.
Bart Jacobs studied organ, harpsichord, and basso continuo at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven with Reitze Smits and Kris Verhelst. After his studies, he was appointed organist of the then Brussels cathedral choir under the direction of Erik Van Nevel. In 2012, he was appointed titular organist of the Saint Michael and Saint Gudula Cathedral in Brussels. Additionally, he is active in Bornem as an organist and driving force behind the Organ Association of Bornem and the organ heritage in Klein-Brabant. As a soloist and accompanist, he performs with renowned ensembles such as Vox Luminis, Les Muffatti, Il Gardellino, A Nocte Temporis, and Psallentes. The CD with his reconstructions of organ works by J.S. Bach together with the baroque orchestra Les Muffatti received international awards including Diapason d'Or de l'année 2019 (FR), a 10 in Luistermagazine, and the Klara Award. As an organist for the ensemble Vox Luminis, Bart Jacobs received the CHOC de Classica, Gramophone Editors Choice, and Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. In 2022, his new CD 'Recommended by Bach', recorded on the new Contius organ in Leuven, was released. Bart Jacobs contributed to the All of Bach project of the Dutch Bach Society.
