Haarlem is known worldwide as the city of organs. The city has two top organs with a monumental status: the Christian Müller organ in the Great or St. Bavo Church and the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the PHIL.

Anton Pauw is the city organist of Haarlem, regularly performing on the Christian-Müller organ in the St. Bavo Church and the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the PHIL, and is also responsible for the programming of the City Organ Concerts. In the St. Bavo Church, he provides the organ music during worship services for the Protestant Community of Haarlem and is content responsible for the series of summer vespers. Additionally, he is the organist for the Protestant Community of Haarlem on the Van Covelen-Hess organ in the New Church. Anton Pauw studied organ and church music at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Piet Kee, Klaas Bolt, and Jan Boeke. As a choir conductor, he leads the Oude Bavo Cantorij, the permanent choir of the Great and New Church in Haarlem.

Peter Westerbrink has been the organist of the Akerk in Groningen since 1990, alongside Leonore Lub, and he is the organist of the Schnitger organ in Noordbroek. Peter Westerbrink has gained a reputation for his interpretation and knowledge of old North German organ music. For many years, he produced the organ programs for NCRV and co-directed the renowned Dollard Festival (1981-2001) with Harald Vogel. In 1990, he founded the ‘International Organ Academy Groningen’ (SIOG), centered around the organs in Noordbroek and the Akerk, and together with Christiaan Teeuwsen, he leads the ‘Noordbroek Organ Academy’. Westerbrink is a guest lecturer at the conservatory of Turin (Italy), in Seoul (South Korea), and this year in Oberlin (USA). The CD 'Groninger Orgelhistorie', recorded with several Groningen colleagues, was awarded an Edison.

His four-part CD series 'Franz Tunder in perspective' was recorded on five Schnitger organs.

From May to October, concerts are held on Tuesday evenings and in July and August also on Thursday afternoons in the St. Bavo Church by renowned organists from home and abroad.
