Vacancy Caretaker

For 36 hours per week

De Stadsschouwburg and the PHIL are the two largest venues in Haarlem. Each year we organize more than 400 events: from hip-hop to dance, theater and cabaret at the Stadsschouwburg and from pop and classical concerts to soul performances, television productions, business events and conferences at the PHIL. Together with a dedicated team, we ensure that artists, visitors and clients feel welcome and events run smoothly. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a

Technical Facilities Employee (Building Caretaker)

for 36 hours per week

Who are we?

We are one organization with two prominent venues in the center of Haarlem. Our total team consists of 120 employees and a group of dedicated volunteers. The Building Management & Facilities department ensures that our locations continue to function smoothly, safely and pleasantly. The team consists of the Head of Building Management & Facilities, a senior Building Management employee, a Facilities Coordinator and four caretakers.

What will you do?

As a Technical Facilities Employee, you ensure that our locations function well every day and look well-maintained. You have strong technical knowledge, quickly spot what needs to be done and take initiative to tackle maintenance and repair work. You combine technical insight with a hospitable and service-oriented attitude, making you a visible point of contact in the building. In this role, Topdesk notifications, daily maintenance and practical technical tasks play a major part.

A selection of your tasks:

  • You independently perform minor technical and facilities maintenance.
  • You identify bottlenecks in the building and take appropriate action immediately.
  • You handle notifications and faults that come in via Topdesk.
  • You ensure that spaces are safe, clean and ready for use.
  • You welcome guests and suppliers and assist colleagues where needed.

In short: a varied role in which you visibly contribute to a safe, well-maintained and hospitable environment.

Who are you?
You are someone who takes action and doesn't wait when something goes wrong. If you notice that something isn't working, is damaged or needs attention? Then you tackle it. Isn't the dishwasher working properly? Then you first check if you can fix it yourself. If that doesn't work, you call in the right supplier. A light has burned out? Then you replace it. Does a notification come in about a door that's sticking or a coffee machine that's broken? Then you make sure it gets taken care of. You find it natural to help colleagues and guests and ensure that our buildings remain safe, well-maintained and ready for use.

You also bring:

  • You are handy and have experience with technical and practical tasks; specific training is not necessary.
  • You are proactive and don't wait when something needs attention.
  • You work carefully and have an eye for safety and maintenance of the environment.
  • You are friendly, service-oriented and pleasant to work with.
  • You can set priorities well in a varied working day.

What do we offer?

  • A varied role at two special venues in the center of Haarlem.
  • An enthusiastic and diverse team with hospitable and passionate colleagues.
  • An annual contract for 36 hours per week with the prospect of a permanent position.
  • The salary is, depending on knowledge and experience, between €2,400 and €3,025 gross per month based on 36 hours (scale 3 of the Dutch Theaters Collective Agreement).
  • Free admission to many performances and concerts, also at our colleagues' venues Patronaat and Schuur.
  • A friendly get-together every month.

Interested?
Whether you've gained experience through work, volunteering, or hobbies: if you have technical insight and enjoy solving problems, we'd love to hear from you.
