Social initiatives

We believe that music and theater have a positive impact on people and society. That is why we organize various initiatives that make culture accessible to everyone, with special attention to vulnerable groups.

Celebrate Life

By closely collaborating with the organization Vier het leven
we facilitate the reception of elderly people who can no longer come to our buildings on their own.

Livestreaming to nursing homes

With the current and future aging population, there is an increasing
group of elderly people who are less mobile or are hesitant about
traveling. We livestream a number of our concerts to nursing homes in the region and aim to expand this to elderly people who live independently but can no longer come to our buildings by themselves or do not wish to do so.

Lowering financial barriers

We want people who are financially struggling to also enjoy theater and music. Culture offers comfort, support, and brings people together in difficult times. That’s why we have launched various initiatives such as a
discount for HaarlemPas holders (for €7.50 to attend a performance) and we offer free tickets to a large number of classical concerts in the PHIL for refugees (20 free tickets per concert). Additionally, for all youth and family concerts in the PHIL, children up to and including 12 years old can enter for free. We collaborate as partners with the Haarlem Alliance Against Child Poverty to promote these initiatives.

For those who do not qualify for this, we have our monthly Sirene Sale with significantly reduced admission prices and a Last Minute discount for young people up to 30 years old and CJP pass holders. With this, you can attend a concert or performance on the same day for €12.50. Lastly, we have our New Year’s concert, where ticket buyers can purchase a ticket based on the 'Pay What You Can' principle.

Company Strong Stories

We are looking for new and stimulating youth theater, and the Haarlem company Strong Stories is setting up a new youth ensemble. For this, we have made office space and the rehearsal room of the Stadsschouwburg available to them. The (school) performances they create will premiere in our theater.
