Sound and hearing protection
Enjoying music safely
We want visitors to enjoy both classical and pop music in a pleasant and safe manner. In the Third Covenant on Prevention of Hearing Damage from Amplified Music, a maximum of 103 dB over an average of 15 minutes has been established. We believe that a maximum of 100 dB is better for our audience and sounds better in our halls. We advise this to the artists who visit us. However, many artists bring their own sound technician, who determines the mix and volume. Ultimately, the visiting artist has the artistic final responsibility for this, and we continuously measure with a calibrated meter positioned next to the visiting technician.
3 tips to protect your hearing
1. Wear earplugs
In our entrance area, there is a machine that sells EarBeanz earplugs. These reusable earplugs with filters can be purchased for € 8.50. Please note, you can only pay contactless with your phone, not with a debit card.
2. Keep your distance from the speakers
If you can keep 2 meters away from the speakers, that already reduces the sound by about 10dB!
3. Give your ears a rest
Occasionally, find a quieter place to give your ears a break.
