The Music of Harry Potter
Symphony of Magic door groot orkest en koor
The International Symphony Orchestra plays the music from the Harry Potter films with a large orchestra and choir.
From the very first note, the soundtracks of the Harry Potter films are enchanting. Hedwig's Theme, the famous, sparkling melody that begins almost every Harry Potter film, immerses you immediately in its magical adventures. On January 9, 2026, the best music from all the Harry Potter films will come to Haarlem.
The film music of Harry Potter is excellent for performance in a large orchestral setting. For this, conductor Raymond Janssen is once again collaborating with The International Symphony Orchestra from Lviv and the National Choir of Ukraine 'Dumka'.
Composers
The novels by J.K. Rowling tell the legendary story of wizard apprentice Harry Potter and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Between 2001 and 2011, the books were adapted into films, featuring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson in the lead roles.
John Williams composed the soundtrack for the first three Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004).
Williams is one of the greatest film music composers of all time and has written music for films including Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, Star Wars, E.T., Jaws, and Schindler's List. Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper, and Alexandre Desplat composed the soundtracks for the other five films.
