Sound and hearing protection

Enjoying music safely

We want visitors to enjoy both classical and pop music in a pleasant and safe manner. The Third covenant on hearing damage prevention from amplified music has established a maximum of 103 dB over an average of 15 minutes. We believe that a maximum of 100 dB is better suited for our audience and our 150-year-old Grand Hall as well as our intimate Small Hall, and we advise that every visiting artist adheres to this. Many artists bring their own sound engineer who determines the mix and the volume. Ultimately, the visiting artist has the artistic final responsibility for this and we continuously measure with a calibrated meter that is positioned next to the visiting technician.

3 tips to protect your hearing

1. Wear earplugs
With the online ticket sales for every pop concert via our website, hearing protectors from Alpine Plug-IT with a filter can be ordered. They are also available for purchase at our bar in the PHIL Café before and during the concert. Additionally, we offer free hearing protection at each pop concert.

2. Keep your distance from the speakers
Keeping a distance of 2 meters from the speakers can already reduce the volume by about 10 dB!

3. Give your ears a rest
Occasionally seek a quieter spot to give your ears a break.
