Stadsorgelconcert in de Grote of St. Bavokerk

Bert van den Brink & Bernd van den Bos

geen pauze

Haarlem is known worldwide as the city of organs. The city has two top organs with monumental status: the Christian Muller organ in St. Bavo Church and the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the PHIL.

Bert van den Brink

Bert van den Brink studied at the Utrecht Conservatory with Herman Uhlhorn. In 1982, he graduated with honors and became a teacher of light music piano at the same conservatory. Bert van den Brink is a pianist, organist, and accordionist. He has worked with, among others, Toots Thielemans, Chet Baker, Eric Vloeimans, Bert Joris, Willem Hellbreker, Cor Bakker, and Fred Delfgaauw. Bert is also active as an arranger and producer. The Metropole Orchestra, the Dutch Wind Ensemble, Paul de Leeuw, Denise Jannah, and others regularly perform arrangements and adaptations by him.

He has released several solo albums. The album 'Jazz at the Pine Hill' earned him an Edison nomination. In 2007, Van den Brink received the VPRO/Boy Edgar Award. Unique is the CD ‘Blowing’ (2013) featuring jazz & pop on the church organ.

Bernd van den Bos

Pianist, songwriter, and bandleader: Bernd van den Bos is all of it. He accompanies artists such as Brigitte Kaandorp, André van Duin, Simone Kleinsma, and Jenny Arean, surprises with exciting improvisations, and composes with a wink. His playing style is lyrical, his sound classical, and his sources of inspiration diverse – from Louis van Dijk to Freddie Mercury. Telling musical stories that resonate is what he does best. Preferably in sneakers behind his piano.

From May to October, concerts are held on Tuesday evenings and in July and August also on Thursday afternoons in the Great or St. Bavo Church by renowned organists from home and abroad.
