Symphonic Cinema brings Gustav Holst's The Planets to life in a unique combination of music and film.
Symphonic Cinema brings Gustav Holst’s The Planets to life in a unique combination of music and film. In Symphonic Cinema, the visuals are fully synchronized with the music, adding a new layer of meaning and emotion.
The film follows the journey of a soul saying goodbye to earthly life and being guided in the transition to the afterlife. Oscar winner Emma Thompson and Greg Wise play the leading roles in this story about loss and transformation.
The film and music, performed by the National Youth Orchestra under the direction of Antony Hermus, together form a meditative experience that transcends the boundaries of the art forms. This production invites the audience to reflect on themes such as transience and connection, and offers space for personal reflection within an intensely sensory experience of the sounds of Holst’s masterpiece.
