PHIL conferences and events

In 2023, the Grand Hall celebrated 150 years since hosting its first concert. To commemorate this occasion, our beautiful venue was given a new name and identity. Remaining faithful to the 150-year-old tradition, while seemlessly connecting it with the future. The new identity is better suited to the new programming: in addition to classical concerts, we increasingly programme other genres with major (international) artists. Additionally, more and more companies and organizations choose PHIL as the preferred location for their business event. And our new name PHIL suits this perfectly! 

As a large cultural organisation, we look for social connections. It goes without saying that sustainability and social entrepreneurship are of paramount importance to us. We are committed to contribute to a better environment by making our buildings more sustainable and making the right, sustainable choices for our performances and events. Both our buildings are green key certified. 

Every year our foundation hosts hundreds of performances in both locations (Stadsschouwburg and PHIL). All technical equipment is available in-house to meet the high-quality requirements set by our performers. We employ a team of technicians who monitor all aspects of light, sound and av at our performances and events. Therefore, it is not necessary to contract an external party for stage technology. If you have very specific wishes, we can hire this in consultation with you. 

Thanks to the large amount of concerts and events at PHIL, we have the luxury of employing an experienced catering staff. They are young, highly trained and have been selected for their sense of hospitality.

Our preferred supplier for catering is Vineyard Premium Catering. They offer premium food products with high service. Our business guests are always full of praise for the buffets, food stations, sit-down dinners, apetizers and/or break snacks. Vineyard is Greenkey Gold certified, just like we are. 

For smaller receptions of up to about 150 guests, we collaborate with Truffels catering. This Haarlem based company is the preffered caterer of our neighbour, The Teylers Museum, a location that, like us, attaches great importance to quality and service. 

A fee is applicable if you wish to bring your own caterer, providded it is a reputable business.

PHIL is located in the center of Haarlem, a stone's throw from the Grote Markt. It is a short, pleasant walk of about 8 minutes from Haarlem Central Station. There are several car parks nearby. Do your guests arrive by tour bus or do you want to have them picked up for an evening program at a beach club in Zandvoort or Bloemendaal by the sea? In that case, coaches are allowed to stop right behind our venue on the Spaarne to let guests get on or off.

PHIL is located in the center of Haarlem, a stone's throw from the Grote Markt. There are 239 hotel rooms within a maximum 3-minute walk, 291 rooms within a maximum 10-minute walk and 424 rooms on the edge of the center.

Walking back to your hotel through the old city center of Haarlem after a long conference day is certainly a treat. It's wonderful to see guests in the local restaurants, all within walking distance. If you would like your guests to stay together in one hotel for example near Schiphol Airport, so they can park there for free?  PHIL is easily accessible by private coaches or mini buses, guests can disembark at the Spaarne, a 1-minute walk away.
